Three Easy Steps to Keep Your New Years Resolutions

By now, many of you have set your New Year’s resolutions and goals. Some of you are already excited and doing something about achieving them. Unfortunately, most of us will struggle keeping the resolutions alive by end of the month. Within weeks into a new year the goals are just a hype of the celebrations left behind us. So here are three easy steps in keeping your new year’s resolutions:


Step 1 – When setting up goals, make sure to include action steps in how you are going to achieve them. For example, if losing weight is one of your goals, then the action steps would be to eliminate all the junk food from your home and drink 5 glasses of water a day. It is very important to be very specific with your goals so you know what you need to do every day. Instead of saying “eat healthy”, you can choose to say “eat at least one portion of greens a day”.


Step 2 – Break down your larger goals into smaller goals. This way every time you achieve a small goal it will give you a sense of successful achievement and get you one step closer to the goal. For example, if you want to get organized this year, then break down the areas in your home and office which need to be organized and then set up a schedule to get those areas organized. Make sure you celebrate your achievements, after all if you don’t, then who will?


Step 3 – Give yourself a visual reminder of what your goal is. It is not enough to just have a list of your goals in front of you, but create an inspiration board that can help you get there.
